Poker history has been made thanks to Gavin Griffin, who becomes the first ever poker player to win an European Poker Tournament title, World Series of Poker Bracelet and now a World Poker Tour. On January 31st Gavin Griffin took first place at the 2008 Borgata Winter Poker Open.
Gavin Griffin came into the final day with David Tran and both of them had over half the chips in play. The final table sat, Ervin Prifti, Lee Watkinson, Noah Schwartz and Thomas Hare. All these players were eliminated in respected order.
It was time for the chip leaders to play heads up and Griffin was a dog as he was out chipped by 2 million. Although Tran's chip lead did not last long. Both players got all their chips in early and it was Tran's pocket nines vs Griffin's ace queen. Griffin won the race and became the new chip leader. From there it only took a few more hands for Griffin to finish off Tran. The last hand was Gavin's queen jack beating Tran's king eight. |
