Gus Hansen Bio and Review

The Great Dane Gus Hansen Reviewed

On February 13th, 1974 Gus Hansen was born in a small town outside of Copenhagen, Denmark. Back in the day Gus use to travel and test his Backgammon skills in New York and was playing against Huck Seed and Phil Laak. In 1996, Gus entered his first WSOP event and was eliminated the first day. This really motivated Gus to become a good poker player. By 1998 Gus almost forgot about Backgammon and was playing poker full time. Since this time, Gus Hansen has gone on to be a very successful poker player.

Right now Gus Hansen is 6th on all time money leaders on the WPT with over $2 million in cashes. He has 3 WPT titles and is 24th on the All Time Money list. He also has won the biggest pot in a cash game to ever be shown on TV when he beat Daniel Negreanu with quads. The pot was over $575,000.

Personal Strengths:

Gus Hansen's strong background in Backgammon has allowed him to transfer his excellent math skills into his game of poker. His brute aggressiveness works extremely well when he is on his game. However, Gus sometimes has a little to much gamble in him. He can get way to reckless at times, and can flirt with bad player and -EV plays.

Best and Worst Poker Game:

Gus Hansen is absolutely dynamite at No Limit Holdem. His math skills and pure aggression is very overwhelming against other players. Gus is also a very strong 2-7 Triple Draw player but does not shine like his No Limit game. Gus's 7 Card Stud HiLo is his weakest link in his poker game. He tends to stay away from this game, especially when he is playing the “big game”

Gus Hansen plays exclusively and promotes Full Tilt Poker
